“The Vital Role of Coordination in Education”

Introduction

Coordination is a fundamental element that serves as a connector in maintaining equilibrium. A lack of coordination can lead to disruption of effective functionality. Coordination in education is a practice that fosters a positive learning environment conducive to student success and is rigorously vetted for the achievement of students’ educational goals.

Major stakeholder in educational coordination

According to research conducted by Open Data Institute (ODI), it is documented that a proper coordination plan can strengthen education outcomes. Yet every coordination plan involves stakeholders (students, teaching staff, parents, administration, School board, community members) who are integral to this multifaceted and complex process. The seamless synchronization between these entities results in educational harmony. In the context of inter-school coordination, the key players who maintain this coordination are as follows:

A- Teachers

Progressive learning -

Teachers play an important role in establishing a progressive learning environment in school, especially in classrooms, through their dynamic teaching approach, feedback, goal-setting, positive reinforcement, and by instilling a sense of decorum in the minds of students to maintain discipline.

Collaborative learning -

By engaging students in group projects, teachers can foster equity in education. With this approach, students will invest their time in collaborative learning, ultimately initiating a sense of shared responsibility among them.

B - Parents

Relationships -

Parents on the other hand are major stakeholders in this coordination process, involving relationships such as, parent-student and teacher-parent coordination.

Academic growth -

Teachers are obliged to keep parents involved in their child's academic growth, sharing both positive and negative progress reports about their child. This way, parents can understand whether the tutoring approach needs modification or if their child is struggling to grasp certain concepts.

Interaction -

Parents who interact more with their children's school work tend to see better outcomes. So, it’s better to give parents a hands-on role in their child’s journey to success.

C- School Administration

Alignment -

To maintain the integrity of education and ensure the unwavering flow of learning, it's important to align curriculum, syllabus, and administrative tasks cohesively.

Cater to challenges -

Administrators and teachers should work together to address any gaps or challenges that could potentially disrupt academic coordination.

Check and balance -

To meet a common vision, Regular meetings, status reports, feedback, performance reports, and open communication channels are integral to align regulatory tasks of administration and teaching methodologies.

Coordination between Educational levels

Coordination between educational levels contributes to the greater efficacy of students. Education progresses through a ladder of conceptual study, seamlessly transitioned from early childhood to higher study level. At each step, students are assigned defined syllabuses that meet their intellectual needs. With every passing year, the syllabus becomes more complicated yet remains coordinated. Therefore, the relationship between education levels and student intellect is reciprocal.

From kindergarten to high school, education remains interconnected. Each level yields unique and collective educational outcomes due to an appropriate coordination plan.

Role of Technology in fostering coordination in education

Technology profoundly impacts education in multiple ways. In the past, education was bounded by the walls of libraries and was accessible to only a few elite people. But today, it is not confined by any physical boundaries. We now have online resources and platforms that provide an immediate learning environment to students, giving free access to research papers, books, legislation, and even offering online degrees in education.

Technology-based education is at the core of sustainable development. Technology is coordinating education in multiple flawless ways;

Virtual learning approach –

Technological integration in education is connecting the dots by linking teachers and students virtually through online apps like Zoom and Google Meet. For instance, virtual learning was the central approach in the Covid-19 recovery process.

Collaborative approach –

Students are embracing proactive learning with virtual assistance in education. Through technical apps like Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Google Drive, Slack, and Flipgrid, students can engage in group discussions, conduct classes, share resources, manage group projects, and save work that is accessible to every group member.

Data Management –

Educational institutes are using data management tools and apps to engage students in activities, conduct assessments, track their records, manage student lists, record exam grades, and help facilitate teacher-student coordination in terms of academic progress.

Equity in Education -

Personalized learning through technology is the foundation for augmenting equity in education. Equity-based studies aim to educate students on a level playing field, creating a resilient and equitable environment. For instance, when teaching the law of thermodynamics to students, share e-books, relevant videos, and PDFs with them regarding the topic. This approach will bring conceptual clarity to those who may struggle to understand it in the classroom.

Technology is facilitating coordination in education by paving the way for guided communication and collaboration. However, despite the undeniable importance of coordination, there are challenges that undermine the overall coordination plan, disrupting the role of coordinated education.

Strategies to improve Coordination in Education

To promote a more coordinated and harmonious study environment, our educational institutes could adopt certain practices.

Curriculum –

Implementing an identical curriculum in schools is the primary step needed to promote coordinated education and enhance equity in learning.

Technology adoption –

Technology is the best way to move forward in this revolutionized era of digital domination. Without embracing this necessity, we can't coordinate education appropriately.

Communication –

Establish communication channels for the effective exchange of information between teachers, parents, students, and administrators.

Professional development –

Engage the teaching staff in personal and professional development workshops and seminars to ensure that their teaching styles align with ongoing methodologies.

Meetings -

Conduct regular meetings between faculties and hold weekly meetings with parents to facilitate efficient coordination.

Syllabus –

Institutes should keep their syllabuses up-to-date and upgraded.

Communities -

Develop professional learning communities where teachers can meet, share their best practices and collaborate for better understanding.

Conclusion

It's evident that coordination in education is effective in maintaining a harmonious, positive, and productive learning system. We envision a coordinated and successful tomorrow, where technology leverages proactive coordination across prospective educating platforms. “Because coordination leads to progress, and teamwork works wonders”
